1. Topic Of Lesson Plan-
Probability

2. Lesson Content-
experiment- activity involving chance

trial- repetition or observation of an experiment

outcome- result

event- set of one or more outcomes

probability- is the measure of how likely the event is to occur

Experimental- P= #of times the event occurs/total number of trials

Theoretical- P= #of ways the event can occur/total # of equally likely outcomes

3. Goals And Expectations-
The purpsoe of this lesson is to introduce students to probability and modern day uses.

4. Objectives-

1.To determine the probability of rolling a number on a die.

2.To determine the probability of an event based on previous results.

3.Student will research modern uses of probability

5. Materials and Aids-
Smartboard
computers
calculators
dice
worksheets

6. Methods Used and Procedures-

A. Introduction-

1.Problem of the Day
2.Brainpop video
3.vocab

B. Development-

Show students a bucket that contains 3 colors of dice. Ask students to determine the probability of drawing a white die from the bucket.
Write answer as fraction and decimal/percent.

C. Practice-

1.Divide students into groups.
Conduct 2 experiments with dice: rolling 1 die 50 times and rolling two dice 50 times. Record results on student charts.

D. Independent Practice-

1. Define vocab. in copybook with sample problems.
2. textbook page 634 3-5
page 640 6-8

E. Accommodations For Students-

1.Use of calculators.
2.Small group instruction.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Grading Sheet to assess students' completion of the activites.
2.teacher observation

G. Closure-

1.Brainpop quiz on Smartboard.

7. Evaluation-
1.Students see how they apply skills with the computer to everyday events, sheet will have all data posted as on the worksheet.
