A. Introduction
1.WarmUp on board:
 What is a benchmark?
 When would we use the benchmark of 0?
 When would we use the benchmark of ½?
 When would we use the benchmark of 1?



B. Development
1. Go over pretyped notes with students
2.Review benchmarks: chart on page 171 blue book; number line on page
187 green book. Have students give examples of fractions using each
benchmark.
3. Go through examples 1 & 2 on page 172 in the blue book. 


C. Practice
1. Exercises on page 173: do numbers 1, 2 and 3 for students
2.Call students up to do examples 4, 5, 6
